Behind the creative name
The Big Bang is a physical theory that is the most widely accepted explanation of the creation of the universe from an initial state of high density and temperature. The concept of the theory came from the physicist Alexander Friedmann in 1922. Physicists conclude that the entire universe was created approximately 13.77 billion years ago which physicists can also see that the universe is increasing expanding outward in equal directions. After a short period of cooling subatomic particles were created and later formed atoms. The earliest forms of elements in the universe were hydrogen, helium, and lithium, which coalesced through gravity that later formed the earliest stars and galaxies.
Just like Friedmann, he would have likely come across a similar model of this early form of 8x10 plate camera featured in the Big Bang Booth. Plate photography was invented in between 1826 - 1839 and was widespread throughout the early decades of photography. Today, plate cameras are used mainly in landscapes and commercial work that needs extremely large photographic prints to be produced. So it is fitting to call the camera we use as of the earliest forms of photography and to incorporate it into a photo booth. Hense Big Bang Booth = the birth of the theory of the Big Bang and the birth of photography. |
